Sicily: a Mediterranean gem where history comes alive

Sicily is much more than an island: it is a mosaic of civilizations, an open-air museum and a natural paradise. Over the centuries, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Spaniards built majestic cities, immortal temples and traditions that still endure today.

On this journey we will discover Palermo, Syracuse, Taormina and Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, as well as fishing villages and breathtaking panoramic views. Sicilian gastronomy, with its fresh and intense flavors, will also be a key part of this experience.

A journey to experience Mediterranean authenticity, millennia-old history and the infinite beauty that makes Sicily a unique destination in the world.

Day 1 — Palermo

Arrival in Palermo. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 — Palermo · Monreale · Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, departure to Monreale and visit of the Benedictine Cloister and the Cathedral. Under the evocative excuse of a dream-vision in which he found a treasure hidden by his father, the Norman king William II carried out the construction of one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe.

Later, return to Palermo for a short panoramic visit by bus. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, walk through the historic center of the Sicilian capital. We will visit its main monuments: the Palatine Chapel, the Cathedral of Palermo, the famous Piazza Pretoria (an immense fountain made entirely of white Carrara marble with mythological allegories), the Quattro Canti or Piazza Vigliena (at the intersection of Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via Maqueda) and the Norman church of La Martorana, also known as Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio, built in 1143 by George of Antioch, admiral of Roger II. Overnight at the hotel in Palermo.

Day 3 — Palermo · Erice · Trapani · Agrigento

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Erice, a medieval village located 750 meters above sea level. It gathers many Sicilian features, such as Norman urban planning, the Arab organization of housing around a courtyard, and a wide variety of sweets.

Continuation to the western part of Sicily for a panoramic visit of Trapani with its salt pans. We will visit the sea salt production area surrounded by mills that allow the production of the famous Trapani salt. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Continuation to Agrigento: “The most beautiful city of mortals”, where Doric temples can still be admired in the valley. Visit of the famous and unique “Valley of the Temples”. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 — Agrigento · Piazza Armerina · Catania · Taormina Area

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, departure to Piazza Armerina: visit of the splendid Villa Romana del Casale, a luxurious residence in the heart of Sicily, an important example of the Roman period, where precious mosaics depicting the customs and habits of that time can be admired.

Lunch at a local restaurant. Continuation to Catania and panoramic walking tour of the city. This city, the most important on the eastern coast, is mainly characterized by its buildings made of volcanic stone. Transfer to the hotel in the Taormina area. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 — Taormina Area · Etna · Taormina · Taormina Area

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Mount Etna: the highest and still active volcano in Europe (3,345 meters). The bus will reach the Sapienza Refuge (1,800 meters). Visit of the extinct craters, the so-called Crateri Silvestri.

The variety of flora is splendid, as are the lunar landscapes that can be seen along the way. For centuries, the volcano has created a place where nature, culture and history have come together to form a unique site in the world.

Lunch at a local restaurant. Continuation to Taormina: located on the summit of Mount Tauro (204 m). Free time for shopping, discovering its streets or visiting the famous Greek Theatre, from where a magnificent panorama of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea can be enjoyed. Return to the hotel in the Taormina area. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 — Taormina Area · Catania · Return

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Catania airport for the return flight. End of services.
